FBS Mission Statement:

We at FBS believe that offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring bears the largest share of the blame for years of sub-par output from some of the most talented players ever to set foot on Worsham Field. We believe the main objective of the VT football program - a national championship - will escape us as long as Stinespring is making the calls. We therefore advocate the improvement of our football program through the replacement of our offensive coordinator.

Phillip Simms to transfer to UVA.

Alabama backup quarterback Phillip Simms will transfer to the Wahoos. Simms committed to the Crimson Tide in 2010 and was rated the number two player in Virginia and the number two pro style quarterback in the nation that year according to Rivals, but lost the competition for the starting spot to AH McCarron.

Simms will reportedly receive a hardship waiver and not have to sit a year because he has an ill relative and is moving closer to home.

This is a phenomenal get for Mike London but could bring with it some complications. London has already had issues trying to balance a QB rotation between Michael Rocco and David Watford. The arrival of an immediate, serious threat to compete for the starting role might be enough to create a domino effect and nudge Watford out the door.

This is not a sky is falling post. Simms is a hell of a quarterback on paper, but he couldn't manage to win the starting role at Alabama, where quarterbacks are known to be more game managers than game winners. And even if Simms is the next John Elway, it's going to take more than a great quarterback to right the ship in Charlottesville. But it's something to be aware of and a big step in the right direction fit Mike London.

When it comes to quarterbacks, though, I just have to watch a replay of LT decleating the UVA strong safety last year to know that I'm completely comfortable taking ours and playing theirs.
