1) Stinespring is out. Did you just hear a choir sing "Hallelujah", too? Apparently, some school has offered him a head coaching position. Looks like the term "failing upwards" is about to earn a new poster boy. We are not sure when this announcement would take place, though my bet would be 1-2 weeks after the Russell Athletic Bowl is we win, or 1-5 days after if we lose. Either way, it can't come soon enough.
2) Tony Franklin is in. And the choir strikes another chord! Obviously, this announcement could not be made until after the ouster of Stinespring, so I expect him to fly low on the coaching carousel radar until then.
3) O'Cain and Newsome are out. I had heard some other reports saying that they two of them would be retiring at the end of the season, so that would be my guess for how they exit, but our source was not clear on this subject.
4) Shane is taking over Special Teams. I don't know that this is a good thing, but my gut tells me that it will be. He was our long snapper in 1999 when we went to the national championship game. I get the impression that Frank would love to leave VT in the hands of his son - no knock on Bud, but I think Shane could be a great coach one day. Guess we'll have to wait and see how this one pans out.
Good news, my friends. Let's hope its all true.
