DE Jake Johnson and WR Patrick Terry have both had requests to transfer granted. Johnson, a rising junior, was replaced at LB by Lyndell Gibson after eight games last season. Johnson had 55 tackles and 4 1/2 stops for loss last season. He was moved from LB to DE this Spring due to lack of depth at the position. Bud Foster noted that Johnson's football IQ could be better and line coach Charley Wiles said Johnson "had no real football awareness at [defensive end]." Patrick Terry, a redshirt junior, was deep on the depth chart at WR and has never caught a pass in a game. The Roanoke Times is reporting that both Johnson and Terry are likely to go FCS schools, with Terry noting James Madison and Richmond as possibilities.
