FBS Mission Statement:

We at FBS believe that offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring bears the largest share of the blame for years of sub-par output from some of the most talented players ever to set foot on Worsham Field. We believe the main objective of the VT football program - a national championship - will escape us as long as Stinespring is making the calls. We therefore advocate the improvement of our football program through the replacement of our offensive coordinator.

So It's Been Really Slow Around Here...

The offseason sucks. Recently there's been pretty much nothing for Stinespring to mess up so this blog has been pretty quiet. However, there is some news regarding the Hokies.

First off, Barquell Rivers tore his quadriceps tendon on Wednesday while lifting weights. The injury forced him to undergo surgery the next day and he's expected to be out 5-6 months. He's questionable for the start of Fall practice in August. If for some reason he isn't able to play next season, I believe he can still have a strong effect on opposing offenses simply by standing on the sideline and intimidating them with that mean-ass mug. Seriously though, it does make me cringe to hear about injuries on the defensive side of the ball considering we've already lost seven starters, but then I remember we have Bud Foster. He doesn't seem to have a problem putting one of the best defenses in the country on the field year after year. Even if the defense has problems, I think we're all confident that Bud will handle them.

And speaking of Foster, we picked up our first 2011 commitment. Ronnie Vandyke is an in-state 6'3" 185lbs defensive back that runs a 4.5 40, according to Rivals, and Bud Foster is listed as his recruiter. In addition, it looks like we've gotten some 2010 walk on pledges, however I don't have a Rivals account so I can't read anything more than the headlines on those stories.

Closing notes: Cody Grimm ran a 4.54 in the 40 yard dash at the combine according to HD's blog, though Rivals mentioned "a 4.64 40 which came in as the fourth fastest among the linebackers." Either way, he's fast. Also, 50 days until the Spring Game. 185 days until the Boise State game.
