As of Duke's win over UVA and regardless of Miami's status against Wake (probable loss):
Teams that control their own destiny in the ACC Coastal: Duke, Georgia Tech.
Teams that don't: VT, Miami, UVA, North Carolina.
People crying because of this: me.
If the ACC Atlantic's representative in the title game is a team that lost to Richmond, we may as well replace the ACC with the CAA in the BCS... they are, after all 2-1 with a loss by 3 in OT against the ACC.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm done. Almost out of tissues after all this crying...
FBS Mission Statement:
We at FBS believe that offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring bears the largest share of the blame for years of sub-par output from some of the most talented players ever to set foot on Worsham Field. We believe the main objective of the VT football program - a national championship - will escape us as long as Stinespring is making the calls. We therefore advocate the improvement of our football program through the replacement of our offensive coordinator.

I am a displaced Hokie (4 years undergrad, 2 years of grad school all at Tech), played a varsity sport, and drag the Virginia Tech flag that was at my wedding everywhere with me (it's been to Scotland, England, the Grand Canyon, Newport R.I., Pensacola FL, and Meridian MS. so far). I too am tired of the offensive malaise. Anyone notice that Vanderbilt (yeah, Vanderbilt) has almost doubled our scoring output from the whole game in their first half!?
Jeffrey -- good point, and Vandy had 31 points and was leading almost to the end of 3rd quarter.
Against Gtech, VA Tech had scored all of 10 points (down 21-10) as of 4:52 left in the 4th quarter.
If you look at GTech's schedule, some sorry teams have put up huge points against them. Not us, of course.
How the hell can Beamer continue to stand there with a straight face and defend Stiney and the offensive coaching staff? It is absolutely disgraceful that we can have so much talent and yet produce so little.
It's disgusting how Beamer throws our players under the bus so that he can save an obviously incompetent OC's job.
deathmettle I feel your pain I get nautious everytime I hear Beamer and Stinespring explain our inept offense during our losses and blame the players not executing and even more so when ESPN points out our poor offensive production and questionable play calls.
They did so during half time and throughout the UNC game as well. It's sad how the coaches ignore the obvious or just neglect it because they are content where they are.
It appears nothing will be different year to year unless WE the fans and contributors do something or Beamer retires.
I plan to stop by Bull and Bones tomorrow and check it out, if no one is there supporting Stinespring and or Beamer's departure, I mines as well leave as I am wasting my time since nothing will be said about the real reason we are failing this season...the coaches, not the players.
Charlie,
Jessie Palmer was even calling our plays "run left...run right" and that's a guy that does not even follow VT. That's how predictable we are.
Curious what happens tomorrow @ Bull& Bones.
No one is going to call for Beamer to be fired, he practically built built the program from nothing. If it weren't for him Lane Stadium wouldn't be what it is, VT football wouldn't be what it is, nothing would really. Calling for Beamer's head is on par with FSU calling for Bowden's except their situation is a lot more understandable with all that has came to light in the past few weeks. We really do need Stinespring to be demoted though, he has cost us at least 1 NC birth prior to this year and 1 this year. I believe we could have gotten one in either 2005 or 2006 with the #1 defense and the tools on offense like Eddie Royal.
But I do think EVERYONE there will and should be calling for Stinespring to be GONE (at least from OC). I haven't watched the replay of the game yet, but I'm curious to see what the announcers said. If our O got made fun of on national TV that pretty much tells you something needs to change. I don't care about loyalty to Stinespring, if I was Beamer and I had to choose between loyalty and National Championship I think I would choose the latter. I think more posters need to be put up, the students NEED to know who our OC is (face it not many do), they also need to know that it's not the kids fault that take the field as to why we don't have any offensive production. If we could somehow someway get a blackout or something for the last game going to protest... ugh I feel so stupid for ranting.. I just want him gone from calling plays.
We need a post with the exact time, day, and place. Example is Bull and Bones, Monday, 7pm. I have heard people say it is Tuesday and at Foster's. Please clarify.
This is our best chance this year to get the ball rolling. This should have been done last year after Sturdivant nutted up and complained about Stiney. Link is here www.roanoke.com/sports/breaking/wb/184670
People who go should all where a black shirt and/or backwards hat to make it obvious why they are there.
ttkyle:
the majority of students do not know who the OC is because they go to the games because its fun. An entertainment fro the boring weekend in Blacksburg. The people which voices matter, are the alumni but even they are nothing compared to the voices of the big boosters. The big boosters are not calling for change and Beamer is not going to make one. Unitl someone with deep pockets calls for Stiney's head, barring a couple of disastrous seasons, nothing will change.
