FBS Mission Statement:

We at FBS believe that offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring bears the largest share of the blame for years of sub-par output from some of the most talented players ever to set foot on Worsham Field. We believe the main objective of the VT football program - a national championship - will escape us as long as Stinespring is making the calls. We therefore advocate the improvement of our football program through the replacement of our offensive coordinator.

The BC "Game"

Good game Bryan.

Keep it up.

That is all.

Bryan definitely reads our blog. I'm giving credit where it is due, but we quite possibly have the best athletes on this team that we've ever had. Keep it up Hokies!

Indeed - this was a very well called an well executed game plan.

I could do without the sycophantic press acting like the critics were just bellyaching for no reason the past 5 years. The last thing we need is for BS to read all that and really internalize the concept that the Offensive woes have had nothing to do with him.

Has Stinespring turned the corner? The jury is still out. But the last 3 games have seen consistent improvement.

Next week's game @ GT should be another good offensive performance, considering the way their D stunk it up against FS.

Stiney will hopefully continue this trend.

Looking at our schedule, there is no reason in the world we shouldn't score at least 20 offensively a game from here on out.

If Stinespring delivers that, I'd be willing to give him another season.

My Grade vs BC: An unreserved A+.

i voted him an "A" this week. and i'm becoming more satiated each week. i'm reserving any more praise until the GT game. he has done great for the past 3 weeks, but as other posters have stated, one partial season or 1/2 season does not erase the past 7 years' memories.

Bryan got an A from me (and I'm one of the harshest critics)... it was the most balanced attack I've seen in several years... many receivers caught passes and several running backs were used.

Personally, guys, I think Georgia Tech has a swiss cheese defense... I have bigger questions about controlling the triple option... but if anyone can do it, Bud can get it accomplished.

I really have no complaints over the last three games... Bryan, you've done a good job... keep it up... I never thought I'd be saying that... as you can see, we still have questions... but there's a tone of cautious optimism on this blog.

HG, I agree on GT's defense; it appears to be very weak against speed on our team's caliber.
Their option does not scare me too much, as we always do well against one dimensional offenses (remember Clemson the past couple years?).
As I said before, if Stiney can keep calling games at B level or better, we should be fine.

GOP Hokie, we had a difficult time with that triple option last year, but I think Bud will make those adjustments this year. Georgia Tech has a BRAND NEW defensive line (ha, ha).

Though we have risen to #4, I don't think this team will travel to Atlanta with a hot head. I get the feeling that this crew is focused. I actually think GT is in more danger of overestimating themselves. So they just shredded two horrible defenses in Miss St and Fla St... The Hokie D will be a whole different look for them.

Fla St's D was simply atrocious. Their LBs attacked the line on every play - falling right to GT's blocking traps and completely missing the runner. I know our guys - especially guys like Cody Grimm - are better trained to read the play and respond appropriately. We'll need that kind of smart, Bud Foster training big time on Saturday night.

What I like is that Tyrod has become a reliable passer. Not just executing pre-determined passes, but actually dropping back, using his feet, and making a good decision about where to throw it. I can tell Nesbitt mostly executes pre-determined passes. I think if Foster forces him to throw more - we could see some of 2007 VT vs. GT. That game was a masterful display of how confusing Bud Foster's scheme can be for O's. Can't wait for the game.

GT fans already think they are going to run all over VT D from what I've seen.
