Logan Thomas won hands down, which makes me pause and think, are we setting ourselves up for another Tyrod Taylor here? And by that I mean, are we overestimating the importance of raw talent while downplaying the value of experience at the college level?
Nothing against Tyrod, of course.
Logan Thomas is a freak, no doubt. He's going to be something special. But when evaluating which true freshman will be able to make the biggest immediate contribution, you need to consider maturity and experience. That being said, I think there's a good shot that DJ Coles, who is in his own right an impressive physical specimen of a wide receiver, will have a better true freshman season that LT simply by merit of his one year in prep school.
Then again, perhaps Logan is mature enough and the competition he face in high school was good enough to have him poised to explode onto the scene in Blacksburg this year and never look back.
