REPEAT: WE GOT JAYRON HOSLEY
In what can only be described as a recruiting coup d'etat, the Virginia Tech athletics department received a letter of intent from Jayron Hosley (CB) at 10:56 AM.
The IH has been very high on Hosley since watching his game film, but to be completely honest I was focused on Hosley of late simply out of recruiting boredom. We had wrapped up most of our recruits well before signing day (with the exception of Lanford Collins, another huge get) and Hosley was just the most intriguing name left on the board. But essentially all reports had Hosley picking South Florida, so much so that a report leaked after his official visit to USF on 1/9/09 that his commitment to the Bulls was "a done deal."
Hosley, in all honesty, is not the Hokies biggest get this recruiting season, but the commitment of two top-notch corners ensures the continuation of VT's dominance at that position. It might be a while before either Hosley or Jerodd Williams earns a starting spot, but their commitment to VT adds depth to an admittedly young cornerback corps.
The failure to land Kevin Newsome aside, the IH would officially label this a "great" recruiting class, especially in a year when scholarships were at a premium.
FBS Mission Statement:
We at FBS believe that offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring bears the largest share of the blame for years of sub-par output from some of the most talented players ever to set foot on Worsham Field. We believe the main objective of the VT football program - a national championship - will escape us as long as Stinespring is making the calls. We therefore advocate the improvement of our football program through the replacement of our offensive coordinator.
