Let's get right to it, Virginia Tech Hokie fans. Darren Evans, Tech's 210 pound running back, went for 253 yards (a school record) against the Maryland Terrapins. He's the best we have had at the position in many years. Greg Boone, our 280 pound tight-end, also took a few snaps from center. They call it the Wild Turkey Formation (BenVT, you should have trademarked that phrase at your blog, dude). Hokie quarterback, Sean Glennon, completed 14 of 20 passes for 127 yards (and the dude had no interceptions). Dustin Keys, our fieldgoal kicker (or The Closer, as the North Endzone guys call him) was on!!
The Hokie defense flat out shut down the run; the Terps had -12 yards rushing (yep, that's negative twelve... Bud Foster rocks). The Hokie Guru really thought Bryan Stinespring was on the Terps sideline (sorry, the Hokie Guru could not resist that comment). Now, the defense did get burned on a few passes. And we ned to fix those mistakes on special teams like the, ahem, punt return situations. But we will make adjustments and be ready for Miami.
The Virginia Tech Hokies have had quite a run against the University of Maryland Terrapins in the male sports that require athleticism.
Since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), we have three football wins (2004-2005, 2005-2006, and 2008-2009) and no losses vs. the Terps. In ACC basketball, we are 4-2 against the Terps. We swept the Terps in 2007-2008, beat the Terps once in 2006-2007, lost once in 2005-2006, and we split two games in 2004-2005. In 2009, I'm looking forward to another Tech Hoops (Niemo) invasion of the Communist Center.
To sum that up, we are 7-2 against Maryland in the ACC male sports that require athletic ability.
Have a great weekend.
FBS Mission Statement:
We at FBS believe that offensive coordinator Bryan Stinespring bears the largest share of the blame for years of sub-par output from some of the most talented players ever to set foot on Worsham Field. We believe the main objective of the VT football program - a national championship - will escape us as long as Stinespring is making the calls. We therefore advocate the improvement of our football program through the replacement of our offensive coordinator.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNE. Illinois Hokie wants more of the Wild Turkey Offense, and no just because of the ingenious name...
What happened to that article in CT ?
Did it come out yet, or they aren't printing it?
mainman, I asked Ed Lupien (elupien@vt.edu), the CT columnist, about this same subject and I never heard back from him... I can only think of two things...
1.) We had a breakout game against Maryland and the timing was not right for the story (after all, Evans had a great night).
2.) His management at the Colllegite Times did not approve it.
I contacted him at the e-mail address he provided (as you recall, he also posted his info on my blog), but he never responded.
Your thoughts? If you guys want to contact him, be my guest.
Are you watching the idiotic play calling going on right now?
F yes, Greg.
3rd and short with the game on the line. Who do you go to? Our playmaker QB who can squirt through the line like he's covered in butter? The young RB who put up nearly 300 All purpose yards last week? Our tight end who has shown to have the stickiest hands on the field? Maybe even the Freshman Wideout who carried our passing game for the whole first half?
No. You're Bryan Stinespring. You hand the ball off to Dustin Pickle up the middle, who gets stuffed at the line of scrimmage.
My thoughts about the article is that the freedom of speech is not so free...hope I am wrong and we see it this week.
As far as the game goes, how come we were able to produce a scoring drive the last 6 min of the game, and nothing for 1.5 quarters?I mean we always seem to do things like that. I am looking at the receivers and they look fine to me, except Roberts, they can catch those balls. I think the players cannot be the excuse for the incompetence of the coaches. Miami plays more freshmen than us (I think) and they play very well imagine what's gonna happen 2 years from now? I feel the same way with Florida State by the way.
You are going to get more love on this blog based on tonight. Check out this post.

HokieG, I will post sometime this weekend.
My 11/16 (Sunday) post mentions your FBS blog. Just thought you would want to know when it goes up.
JD, thanks for the pub.
The name alone makes this blog
